The 11 folders included in the user profile are contacts, desktop, documents, downloads, favorites, links, music, pictures, saved games, searches and videos. However, in Windows Vista, Microsoft includes the ability to move user-specific data like Favorites, Contacts, Music, Pictures and others with simple drag and drop operation. The Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos folders are most likely to contain large amounts of data. Files accidentally/intentionally deleted from any of the user folders mentioned above can be easily recovered with Remo Undelete. Remo Undelete can recover accidentally deleted files, including files emptied from Recycle Bin, from Windows Explorer with the SHIFT key + Delete, and lost partitions provided it is used before the files are permanently overwritten by new data.

Tutorial on how to recover deleted files from user folders with Remo Undelete:

Step 1: Start Remo Undelete either from program files or by double clicking on desktop shortcut. Remo Undelete main application window is opened as shown in figure a.

Step 2: Select the logical drive which has deleted data and click “Next”. As you click Next button, the application scans the selected drive for deleted data and lists all the found files and folders in a tree format under Root folder as shown in Figure b.

After the tree for found files and folders is found click button. The application will now show all the deleted files with a red cross on it. This will help narrow down the files and make it much easier to find the delete file.

Step 3: The next and final step is to restore your found files and folders to a safe location. Click the file you wish to recover and click the “Save” button. As you click save button, a window to select destination location to restore recovered data is displayed as shown in Figure c.

Select the destination location and specify the file types you wish to ignore (file filter) while saving. Check if you want the data to be restored in compressed form and click OK. As you click OK button, the program starts saving the data to selected destination location.

Once saving is complete a message pops up intimating the same. All the data will be restored in a new folder by name “UndeleteX” in selected destination location. You can now access your recovered data as before.
